I Scream, You Scream...

...we all scream for Bubble Yum Ice Cream!?! Well, at least Eric does! Kids of all ages and one 29 year old man are sure to love this new flavor of ice cream! Growing up Eric always had access to his favorite kind of ice cream at Custard King, but when we moved away it's only available during the summer months, until now! I saw it at the store and thought I'd get it when it goes on sale because ice cream always goes on sale, right? Well, everything except Breyers! I never told Eric about it and knew he wouldn't find out because he never goes to the store so I just thought I'd wait. Then the other night Eric started to complain that he wanted bubble gum ice cream and questioned why nobody made it to sell at a normal store all year round and how little kids and himself would love it. Knowing that there was such a product at our local store, guilt lead me to go that night and surprise him. And of course, it wasn't on sale, ($6.00!) but Eric put it all in perspective: "But I'm so worth it!" . The ice cream has in fact been a hit for him and everyone under the age of 5, that they have consumed the entire thing! I guess I'll have to eat the Mint Chocolate Chip myself!

I am just going to hope that my girls do not walk by my computer and see the picture of buble gum ice cream. Kailey is in love with that flavor. I guess now I am going to have to go buy some and surprise my 3 kids (Kailey, Alyssa, and Chris). I am with you though, I will stick with the mint and chip.

There's a 32-year-old in Oregon that was also just talking to people at work about this exact subject mere days ago. He thinks it's pretty flippin' sweet too.

that was my favorite flavor when i was a kid too. my sisters and i would save all the bubble gum pieces on a napkin until we finished the ice cream and then eat them. gross. at least eric's happiness only costs $6! chad's usually involves something over $300....

ok, so I will also step out and admit that this WAS also a favorite of mine (I have since grown up and go for the mint chocolate chip or at least rainbow sherbet (or is it sher-bert?!)!) anyway- I, like Katie would save the bubble gum on the napkin- because I realized the hard way that trying to eat it WITH the ice-cream was slightly hazardous... like eating rocks. but hey- that's where the dentist guy comes in handy!

Eric STILL does the napkin thing and gets quite the collection because I pick the gum out of the girl's. It's a proud moment for him when he can blow a bubble! Pediatric dentistry fits him so well, for so many reasons!

I apologize for using a napkin to collect the gum, I will try to use a small plate next time. I'm glad to see I have a few supporters, an adorable little girl in Texas, an anonymous dentist in Oregon, a confused pregnant women in California who's hormones are clouding her judgment, and a wife of an oral surgeon resident in Memphis who was forced to "grow up" b/c her husband is never home and now no longer eats bubble gum ice cream (Brandon will be held accountable, I don't blame you Emily. Call if you need to talk). I say everyone should go out and buy a gallon and make bubble gum ice cream an "Everyday Flavor" not just summertime. Write to your senator, Ben, Jerry, or whoever else can help. This is nothing to be ashamed of. Chrissy doesn't realize that I married her b/c of bubble gum ice cream. After having a tube shoved down my nose to my stomach in high school, Chrissy showed up with a cup of blue bubble gum ice cream (I prefer pink, something about blue seems artificial) from Custard King to help me feel better. I knew then she was "the one". So I invite everyone to enjoy a bubble gum ice cream waffle cone, save the gum on a napkin, and then experience 30 seconds of pure cavity inducing bliss as you chew your gum. I don't normally post, but I thought this was important.

I'm totally with Eric on this one! I LOVE Bubble Gum ice cream and still spit out my pieces of gum into a bowl to "save for later". Really, that's the best part...shoving all the pieces in your mouth and savoring the 7.4 seconds that it has flavor.
Note to self: Buy the Bubble Gum Ice Cream this week!

Hmmm...I can't say that bubble gum has ever been a fave of mine, but after reading the rave reviews I find I might need to try again...but on second thought it kind of reminds me that it's maybe not so much the flavor, but the color? I know eric has said blue seems artificial, but there is something wrong when we go out for ice cream and I ask Brayden and Audri what flavor they got and the respond 'colorful'...I am sure the actual bubble gum flavor and gum pieces are just an added bonus after choosing based upon sheer beauty.

Holy Schnikies... I thought I was the only one who used a way-too-paper-thin Baskin Robins napkin to collect the bubble gum from my bubble gum ice cream. I feel somewhat validated in my lingering childhood obsession but kind of disappointed that it has come full circle and my children now ask for the same flavor AND an extra cup to collect the pieces in. Please tell me we're never too old to enjoy this bubble gum bliss!

I'm a fairly regular surveyor of the ice cream aisle, and I don't recall ever seeing this one on the shelf here in WA. You may have just found one reason to stay in NY! But then, we do have Nalley's Chili and Mother's Taffy Cookies...
I will definitely be on the lookout not only for this fine flavor, but for COUPONS to send your way. 'Cause nothing says "sisterly love" like $1.00 off a carton of Breyers!

Oh my goodness! I've been saying for years that they should put bubble gum ice cream on store shelves. My dentist is all the way in Tillamook, and the only reason I look forward to going is that I can stop at the cheese factory and get pink (not blue) bubblegum ice cream! It has no real gum though, just gum-like candy pieces-so no need for the napkin. By the way, I was like Chrissy and had no dentist appt. for five years, and just went two weeks ago and had no cavities. I found out you can buy five gallon drums of Tillamook ice cream to take home with you--another reason for Eric to move back to the Oregon Coast! Carley is my only child who shares my passion for bubble gum ice cream though. We got excited and went to the store to buy it, only to find that the good old Astoria Safeway has no bubble gum :(

eric- i'm glad to see that you're joining us on the posting... (carson let us know that he has been feeling a little too close to all of us girls lately). oh, and now i can save some money on my therapist for 2 reasons: 1. it's all due to a lack of PINK bubble gum ice-cream and 2. I have your number if i need to talk. thanks for your support.
