FINALLY!

It has taken 11 months, but we finally did it! Eric and I had our first official date since Tyler was born! I'm not sure why it took so long. A few factors being: still nursing, no babysitter, laziness, or just easier to take the kids with us to places. (Did I just say that!) We have tasted the freedom, so now we can't go back! We did make this first official outing a great one too. We finally saw WICKED! We have been wanting to see it since it first came out and never had a chance to go. Anyone who reads this blog regularly, knows our love for Broadway. We miss living so close, but are grateful for the traveling tours that come to Portland every few months. We were given Blazer tickets for next week so it looks like we no choice, but to leave the kids again and have a great time!

Birds and the Bees by Ella

Week ago:

Ella: If your a mom you have to clean up everything.

Chloe: I don't ever want to be a mom!

Ella: You'll have too.

Today:

Ella: Chloe did you know that you'll have to get married and it will be to a BOY!

Chloe: (Shocked look on face)

Ella: Yeah, and they have mustaches too!

Chloe-1 Mom-0

Meet my ballet school drop out!

  • Doesn't like tights because they are too tight. Won't go without them either. (Wears the same tights to church and doesn't seem to have a problem!)
  • Would rather play with her sister at home.
  • Still wants to be a ballerina, but doesn't want to go to class.
  • Class is over this month, so I conceded.

Today's list of things that make me smile.

1. Surprise spring blossoms that I didn't know were coming

2. Chloe's hair in a pony tail.

3. Trying new recipes again. I've been stuck in a rut, but I feel like I'm on my way back to the kitchen.

(Meyer Lemon Coffee Cake)

4. Sunshine in the morning! It just makes me want to get up and get things done..

5. Ella's party planning skills. Simple playdate with a friend, turned into a morning pajama party. Mom said no to the goodie bags though.

6. Seeing sidewalk chalk again.

7. Tyler's new teeth

9. My kitchen is still clean from yesterday. Two days in a row!

(Sorry, no pictures of this accomplishment!)

9. We are heading to Great Wolf Lodge again, but this time for free! All day family pass while Eric attends a dental class in the morning.

10. It's Friday and it's March! I am excited for SPRING! (I do not want to hear about the weather report for this weekend. I'll just stay in my happy place for now.)

Glass Half Full

Picture from Flickr: lant_70
So, when Eric told me last night that I might want to set the alarm for the morning because he didn't need to leave until later, I had to take a moment to reflect on that idea. Wow, how would that feel if an alarm that I set had to wake me up for the day? So, just in case, I set the alarm for 7am and just as I thought, never needed it. 5:30am Tyler was up and not going back down. At least after all this time Eric and I are still optimistic!

Ella Moment

Me: What's his name? (Asking about the boy she was in line with)

Ella: I'm not sure.

Me: What do you mean your not sure? He's in your class.

Ella: I know, but he's a twin and I can't tell them apart.

Me: What are their names?

Ella: Matt and Matthew

2009 Ella Update

Ella is now on the tail end of kindergarten and is doing great in school. She is figuring the whole reading thing more and more each day and loves math. She has been obsessed with doing science experiments. She will say, "I want to do some science experiments. I'm not sure what that is, but I want to do it." She loves anything crafty and is doing her part to keep the paper industry afloat. She is a wonderful artist and after Valentine's Day has great love for drawing "heart people". She is very good at playing with Chloe and Tyler, but very bad at cleaning her room. She will do anything to not have to do it. She has two (kind of) loose teeth and just can't wait to finally lose her first one so she too can tell her class all about it. She is still very innocent to the ways of the world, which I am ever thankful!

She thought of this pose herself!
